Happy Sappy Crappy Valentine's Day

For those of you wondering, no I don't mean have a horrible Valentine's Day. My title refers to the three types of Valentine's Day that somebody could have.
First of all I need to mention that I have previously been in the "crappy" category, since I always focus on the fact that i don't have a "loved one" to celebrate V-Day with. However, this year I have decided I need to be over that. V-Day is not only about boyfriend-girlfriend relationships, its also about friendship and other relationships. Love can be given in many ways (however "sappy" that may sound!)
So lets start with the worst possible V-Day that someone can have.
  • Crappy: lets say you don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend to spend your V-Day with; instead you decide to buy a box of chocolates, pint of ice-cream and a bottle of wine and sulk in your bed all night (maybe even day) while watching romantic comedies (or dramas if you're really depressed).
  • Sappy: This refers to all those who want the whole world to know that they are completely in love with each other. No public display is necessary, but many couples feel like they need to make their love evident to others. Romantic dinners, flower arrangements, boxed chocolates, cliched greeting cards, champagne, etc.
  • Happy: for all those single ladies (and guys), not having a couple doesn't mean you can't have a very HAPPY V-Day! Think about it this way: would you not celebrate having friends and loved ones if there were a holiday for that? Well there is. V-Day has been totally misinterpreted by many who think it has to be all about couples love. Well love for a friend or family member is also valid! So enjoy this V-Day by celebrating with your girlfriends (or guyfriends), and bring on the holiday!
